i-City Properties Sdn Bhd (ICP) and Central Pattana Public Company Limited (CPN) held its grand opening ceremony of the brand new Central i-City shopping mall located in Shah Alam on June 15. The event was graced by His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, accompanied by Her Royal Highness, Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

Central i-City shopping centre is a joint venture project between ICP and CPN, offering 940,000 square feet of retail space with over 350 retail stores spanning six levels offering a unique Thai-mixed experience for the citizens of Klang and Shah Alam.

When asked about opening up an entertainment and lifestyle hub in the royal city of Shah Alam, where previously even cinemas are prohibited, Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CPN commented, “It is time for the city to open up and for Shah Alam to enter a new phase. I have spoken to the people in Kuala Lumpur and they think that Shah Alam prohibits liquor and pork. I would say that the city is evolving now, and Shah Alam is now open to everyone.”

Central i-City shopping centre’s exclusive features include the first SOGO flagship department store outside of Kuala Lumpur, the first Village Grocer supermarket in Malaysia to feature the Royal Thai Project products and the largest Samsung Onyx display in the world, in TGV Cinemas.
